CELEBRATING LIFE AND STORIES AT A REMARKABLE BIRTHDAY PARTY

Your Emotional Health

People who have good emotional health are aware of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. They have learned healthy ways to cope with the stress and problems that are a normal part of life.

But situations in life are as unpredictable as how we can manage them.
Sadness is a natural emotion that is associated with loss and disappointment. However if it doesn’t fade with time, it might reflect a treatable condition, depression, that can impact your whole body.

Other emotions such as stress, anxiety, anger, shame or guilt are likely to have physical impact.

There are so many things we can learn from the connection there is between our emotions and our physical and mental health, the list can be very extensive but long story short, sadness, tension, anxiety, fear can establish chronic pain in your head, back, legs and even internal organs and can result in lung malfunction, or digestive illnesses.

But there are also very simple ways to learn how to hack these emotions and feelings and learn how to cope with them as we face a difficult situation.

Breathing exercises, for starters reduce stress or anxiety, or improve your lung function, and reduce fear.

Breathing exercises don’t have to take a lot of time out of your day. It’s really just about setting aside some time to pay attention to your breathing. Here are a few ideas to get started:

Begin with just 5 minutes a day, and increase your time as the exercise becomes easier and more comfortable.
If 5 minutes feels too long, start with just 2 minutes.
Practice multiple times a day. Schedule set times or practice conscious breathing as you feel the need.
It might sound like such an easy task, but we have built such busy lives that we underestimate the importance of these small yet powerful acts.

Take the time in your day to day to be grateful for the body you inhabit, dedicate time for yourself away from screens and relax, get a massage or just try to meditate for a minute or two.

Our emotional health must always be a priority. All the best! 🙂
