Holding on to the past can be a burden and it can also make your present and future seem blurry, stopping you from becoming the person you want to be.

Some of the things we hold on to create patterns in our life that are destructive and often have a negative impact on our relationships and goals.

The very first step to leave your past behind and destroy all these patterns in your present life is to accept the fact that these memories and painful events are having a negative impact in your present existence, once you acknowledge this, you can make a conscious decision to move on.

But of course, the things that happened to us are too difficult to work through on our own. Keep in mind, that there is no shame in seeking help, be it professional therapy or just talking to someone close to you who you really trust. You might even try journaling, and find a way to validate your feelings.

Try to spend your time focusing on the present, taking it all in, so you won’t have time for replaying the same stories you’ve been replaying all your life.

But most importantly, know that your feelings are valid. Your pain is valid, and these past experiences helped shape the person you are today.
And the person you are today deserves to leave all this heavy weight behind to be able to look into the future and work towards goals of happiness and success.
There are a few pointers you want to work on to start planning a bright future, free of past painful memories and structures:

* Reframe your thoughts

* Change your daily habits

* Get out of your comfort zone

* Make a plan for your immediate future

No matter what your past has been like, there is a world full of possibilities for you. It’s time to look to the future with hope and excitement, and step forward into the life you’re meant to have!
